The next generation of ag takes center stage at the PennAg EXPO.
HARRISBURG, PA (03/05/2024) — Pennsylvania’s premier animal ag EXPO, hosted by PennAg Industries Association, is returning to its origins as a springtime event at the Lebanon Valley Expo Center and Fairgrounds from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, March 19, 2024.
This free educational event and trade show, which features over 90 vendors, provides opportunities for pork, poultry, and nutrient management professionals to expand their knowledge of the latest industry trends and network with other ag professionals.
Attendees can look forward to a morning of timely educational seminars specific to pork, poultry and manure management (credits available). The agenda is available at pennag.com/the-expo.
This year’s keynote will be in two parts: the first will center around the young leaders of several Pennsylvania agribusinesses. During a panel discussion, speakers will provide valuable insights into the challenges of transitioning to the next generation of ag leadership. The panel includes Khalee Kreider, Director of Marketing at Kreider Farms; Margo Sechler, Executive Vice President at Bell and Evans; and Coleman Wagner, Director of Hog Marketing at Ag Ventures. Bill Anchor of York Ag Products will moderate the discussion.
The second keynote, sponsored by the PA Pork Producers, will feature a farm economy outlook from Erin Borror, U.S. Meat Export Federation (USMEF) Vice President of Economic Analysis.
New this year is an afternoon breakout session especially for youth and young professionals. The “Stepping into Ag “ session features a panel of speakers who will share career tips for interviewing, networking, and building a reputation as a young professional. Speakers include Lauren Cichocki of the Wenger Group, Jason Landis of First Citizens Bank, Courtney Meyer of Stevens Feed Mill, and Anthony Wenger of Paragon Poultry. The session’s moderator will be Lisa Graybeal, deputy secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture.
Other afternoon breakout sessions include a small ruminant session on growing quality lambs for market by Penn State Extension’s Melanie Barkley and a Pork Quality Assurance Certification session.
PennAg’s EXPO will be held at the Lebanon Valley Expo Center and Fairgrounds at 80 Rocherty Road, Lebanon, Pa., from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, March 19, 2024. The EXPO is free to attend; however, there is a charge of $15 per person for the buffet lunch.
